Rationale
Within the Art curriculum, we aim to introduce and develop a broad range of creative and technical skills that can be built upon as students move through the school. Each year, we revisit and extend key skill sets to deepen students’ understanding of artistic materials, techniques, and processes, whilst exposing them to a wide variety of creative influences.
Students explore painting, drawing, sculpture and printmaking, investigating a diverse selection of topics and artists across historical and contemporary contexts. Our projects are designed to:
Develop students’ understanding of artistic heritage
Broaden cultural awareness
Encourage critical thinking and creative problem-solving
Provide insight into future creative pathways and careers
