Head Teacher’s Update - March 2024

Dear Parents & Carers

We’ve reached the end of another term filled with activities, challenges, and achievements, and I'm proud to share some highlights with you.

Our school has been a hive of activity over the past few weeks, with students engrossed in a wide variety of learning experiences both inside and outside the classroom. From engaging lessons to captivating extracurricular pursuits, our students have embraced every opportunity with enthusiasm.

Over the upcoming break, I encourage you to take a moment to celebrate your child's achievements and reflect on their journey so far. Whether through academic accomplishments, personal development, or acts of kindness within our school community, each milestone reached is a testament to their remarkable potential.

One notable highlight of this term has been the conduct of our students during the mock exam period. The students approached their assessments with resilience, a commendable sense of focus and maturity beyond their years. I have every confidence that with their dedication and the continued support of their families and teachers, they will achieve their goals in the formal exams in the summer.

I am also delighted to share with you the outstanding success of our recent performance - Bugsy Malone. Our students have truly shone, demonstrating exceptional determination and talent. Their achievements reflect not only their hard work but also the unwavering support and guidance provided by our committed team of teachers.

I couldn't be prouder of our school community and the accomplishments we continue to achieve together. Thank you once again for your continued support, trust, and collaboration. I wish you all an enjoyable and restful break, filled with cherished moments with those who matter most.

Best wishes,

Francis Murphy & The Team

Trips & Visits

Many of our students took part in some thoroughly enjoyable trips this term. In February, our Y10 Geographers spent a week in Dorset completing the essential fieldwork elements of the GCSE curriculum, followed by exciting outdoor activities including axe-throwing, archery and climbing. And this week, our Y11 students spent a day sightseeing in Paris while practicing their French speaking skills in real-life situations.
Trips like these are not only a break from the routine of the classroom but also an opportunity for hands-on learning and memorable experiences; while encouraging teamwork, collaboration, and cultural appreciation. We're looking forward to many more in the future.

Sporting Success

Congratulations to our talented equestrian team on their well-deserved accomplishments as they continue to enjoy success - most recently at the National School Equestrian Association Qualifier.

Their dedication to their sport and to each other as a team is truly commendable. Well done to Lily Terry, Hannah Wass, Isla Dawson, Maisie Bradbury, Holly Talbot and Georgina Gunn.

This term we have continued to be in awe of our students who are excelling in their chosen sport outside of school.

Congratulations to…

Malakai Woods - Malakai has secured a spot on the list for the British/English Nationals, ranking among the top 56 swimmers in the UK. An impressive feat which Malakai achieved with a broken finger!

Lara Miles - Following a long and rigorous set of trials, Lara has been selected to be a part of the England Ice Hockey Team.

Harry Bell - Harry races go-karts at a national level and participates in three different championships as he works towards the British Kart Championships next season.

Edward Kamm - Edward has recently been accepted to the Northampton Water Polo Team, scoring a goal in his first official away game and helping the team win 15-9.

Well done to you all!

Bugsy Malone

Earlier this month, STFS hosted its annual show, Bugsy Malone. A culmination of hard work and dedication from over 60 students across Years 7 to 11; encompassing actors, musicians, lighting technicians, make-up artists and stage and prop designers.

Through countless hours of rehearsals and preparation, the students brought the stage to life for two sold-out audiences. Their performances not only entertained but also embodied our RISE school ethos, showcasing resilience, integrity, success, and empathy.

Congratulations to all involved for a fantastic production!

Careers Event

An apprenticeship advisor visited on the last day of term, to engage with students from Years 9, 10, and 11. Their insightful talk and interactive sessions provided valuable guidance on apprenticeship opportunities, offering students a glimpse into potential career paths beyond traditional academic routes.

Finally, a reminder that it is essential our students have the tools to access their learning. Please can you ensure your child has all the correct equipment when we return to school on Monday 15th April.
