Y9 Trip to St Omer & Lille Christmas Market

We baked bread, ate croissants, shopped, ate cheese, spoke French and ate chocolate!

We had a busy three days in France this month. On our first day we visited a traditional Boulangerie where we tried making French bread by hand, and discovered it’s much more difficult than it looks! We enjoyed some freshly baked croissants in the café before making our way to St Omer and our accommodation. Once everyone was unpacked and settled, we met in the dining hall for dinner, followed by a relaxed evening of music and games.

In the morning we were up bright and early and on our way to Lille. Our tour of the city ended at the famous Christmas Market where we spoilt for choice with delicious treats and lovely gifts. After lunch, we had a contrasting shopping experience in a modern shopping mall with the students practising their French speaking skills in real-life situations throughout the day.

In the evening, our hosts provided a delicious French Christmas Dinner for us, followed by a Quiz Night and more music and games.

We spent the last day exploring the town of St Omer before heading back home when our luck with the weather ran out!
