Latest News - 5th June 2026
Thank you!
In just one week's time, our students and staff will be setting off on our annual 10-mile Sponsored Walk.
A huge thank you to everyone who has already donated to support this year's event. Your generosity will help us support the RSPCA, develop our school allotment and outdoor learning provision, and fund projects chosen by our Student Council.
Last year, our amazing school community raised an incredible £5,495. With one week still to go, we'd love to see if we can match – or even beat – that total this year!
If you would like to support our walkers, every donation, no matter the size, will make a real difference.

Thank you for helping our students make a positive impact both within our school and beyond.
Parent Survey – Have Your Say
Earlier this week, we sent our annual parent survey to all families and would be grateful if you could take a few minutes to complete it.
Your feedback is incredibly valuable and helps us to understand what we are doing well, identify areas where we can improve, and shape future developments across the school. Whether your experience has been positive or you have suggestions for how we can do things better, we would like to hear from you.
The survey should take only a few minutes to complete, and all responses will be carefully considered by the senior leadership team.
Please click here to access the survey.
Thank you for taking the time to share your views and support the continued development of Sir Thomas Fremantle School.
Shape the Future of Careers Education
The Careers & Enterprise Company is looking for young people aged 14–25 to join its national Youth Advisory Group.
This is a fantastic opportunity for students who are passionate about improving careers education and ensuring that young people’s voices are heard. Members of the group work with education, business and government leaders to share their experiences, influence decision-making and help shape opportunities for young people across England.
The programme is open to all young people, with particular encouragement for those from underrepresented backgrounds, those who have faced barriers to education or career progression, and those with experience of SEND or alternative provision. Applications can be submitted in a variety of formats, including written responses, videos or voice notes.

Ice Lollies for New Football Goals
We are continuing our fundraising efforts this half term to raise money for new football goals. Sports Ambassadors will be selling ice lollies on the playground every Thursday lunchtime until the end of term.
Exam Warm-Up Sessions
To help support students throughout the exam period, we are continuing to offer warm-up sessions before each exam. These sessions give students the opportunity to recap key information and themes, ask any final questions, and enter the exam feeling calm, confident and focused.
Morning exam warm-up sessions begin at 8.30am
Afternoon exam warm-up sessions begin at 12.35pm
We strongly encourage all students to attend.
Support Our Future Football Stars!
At STFS we’re passionate about giving our students every opportunity to shine — both in the classroom and on the pitch. But right now, our football teams are facing a big challenge: we need football goals and team kits.
Our pupils show much determination and love for the game. They are currently training without full size football goals and without the pride of pulling on a school kit. We don’t want this to be a barrier to enjoying the sport they love, developing their skills, and building the confidence that comes from being part of a team. That’s where you come in. We are reaching out to our wonderful local community for sponsorships and donations to help us purchase:
Full-size football goals
A set of school football kits for both our boys and girls teams
How you can help:
Make a donation (no matter how small, every bit helps!)
Become a sponsor and have your business logo proudly displayed on our kits
Spread the word to others who may be able to support
To get involved, please contact abi.haynes@sirthomasfremantle.org or visit our gofundme page to make a donation
Thank you for helping us invest in the next generation — both on and off the pitch!
Raise funds when you shop online
Friends of Sir Thomas Fremantle School (FOSTFS), our PTA, have set up Easyfundraising as a simple way for families to help raise funds to support the school, at no extra cost to you.
Easyfundraising works with hundreds of well-known retailers. When you start your shopping through their website or app, the retailer donates a percentage of what you spend to FOSTFS, who then use these funds to benefit the school. You pay the same price you would normally pay.
Extra bonus for February
For a limited time, Easyfundraising is offering an additional £2 donation for every new person who signs up in February and selects Friends of Sir Thomas Fremantle School as their chosen cause. This bonus is paid on top of anything raised through shopping, making this a great time to get involved and encourage friends and family to sign up too.
Where it has the biggest impact
Easyfundraising can be used for everyday shopping, but the largest donations come from higher-value purchases. With holiday booking season underway, this is a particularly effective time to get involved.
Examples of high-value purchases include:
Holidays, flights and hotels
Insurance renewals such as home, car or travel
Mobile phone upgrades or new contracts
Laptops, tablets and other technology
Furniture, white goods or home improvement items
Broadband, TV or energy provider switches
Before you buy
If you’re about to make a purchase, please take a moment to check Easyfundraising first. It only takes a few seconds and can make a meaningful difference to the funds raised by FOSTFS for the school.
Thank you for supporting Friends of Sir Thomas Fremantle and helping to enhance opportunities for our students through such a simple action.
Homework Support
Homework plays an important role in supporting students’ learning and progress. Regular, purposeful homework helps pupils build self-discipline, time management and resilience, while reinforcing learning from the classroom.
To support students in developing effective study habits, a range of homework support sessions are available each week. These sessions offer a quiet, structured space with subject staff available to support students where needed. Parents and carers are encouraged to support their child in attending these sessions if they feel additional help or structure would be beneficial.

GCSE Revision Support
We are running a programme of GCSE revision and intervention sessions to provide additional support for students as they prepare for assessments and examinations. These sessions focus on consolidating subject knowledge, revisiting key topics and supporting students who would benefit from extra guidance or catch-up time.
Parents and carers are encouraged to speak with their child about attending relevant sessions, particularly where they feel additional revision or subject-specific support would be helpful.

Contacting the Right Person – Help Us Help You Faster!
We know how important it is for parents and carers to get timely responses to queries and concerns. While our main office inbox is always monitored and messages will be passed on, contacting the relevant staff member directly can often lead to a quicker response.
To make things easier:
🔹 Check our guide on who to contact depending on your concern:
👉 Who to Talk to If You Have a Concern
🔹 Find staff email addresses in our Staff Directory:
👉 Staff Directory
🔹 Reporting a Student Absence?
Please email absence@sirthomasfremantle.org directly.
We recommend saving this address in your contacts to make reporting quick and easy.
A quick reminder: our teaching staff spend their days in the classroom with students, so they may not be able to respond to emails immediately. We have a 48-hour response policy and aim to reply to all enquiries within this timeframe - though it’s often much quicker.
Thank you for helping us streamline communication — it really does make a difference.
Uniform Donations Required
Stock levels in our Preloved Uniform Shop is a little bit low at the moment, so please think of us if you’re having a clear out and have items of uniform that your child has outgrown.
Any donations will be gratefully received at the school reception.
All proceeds go directly to the students via the Student Council.
PE Clubs
You can view all of our after-school clubs and book a place for your child through the Arbor Parent App. Please note that students cannot attend after-school clubs unless permission has been given via Arbor.
For lunch clubs, students should sign up directly with the club lead.
